Men and their toys

These guys were phenomenal.

Astroland, Coney Island

It's sad to think that Astroland may cease to exist. I do hope that the plans by the City to buy the land from the developer go through and Astroland and the boardwalk will once again thrive.

Coney Island Cyclone

One of my favorite places to go during the summer.
I first rode the Cyclone in 1964. I was stranded in NYC
for a week while waiting for my ship to depart for Europe.

Christmas Lights

This was an experiment from one of hubby's classes which I just had to try out. I used the lights on our christmas tree as a focus and then slowly moved the camera around and around while holding down the shutter and then releasing. It made for some very interesting photos.

In a Fog

Hubby and I went to Cold Springs Lodge up in the mountains back in April. One morning it was really foggy and we decided to take a drive and see if we could get some interesting shots. This tree looked quite ghostly.

Building Blocks

This was one taken for one of my classes.

Peach Beauty

This beauty was discovered at the Botanical Garden. I just love the color.

Where you least expect it.

I came across him in Central Park. He played beautifully. It was an unexpected pleasure.

Misfit

This poor leaf looks so out of place trapped by the others.

A splash of Color

I enjoy exploring my local parks and walk there whenever possible. This is one I took in Prospect park during the summer. The pink stood out in the sea of green.

Lashes to die for.

One of the many hardworking horses pulling tourist filled carriages on a scenic tour of Central Park.

Kiss me quick!

Who can resist. One of my favorite characters at the Bronx Zoo. Times like this the zoom lens does wonders.

Concrete Pit

I love shooting in color but I find that sometimes a photo has more of an impact if it is in black and white.

Industrial Beauty

A bright spot in an otherwise bleak industrial area by the Gowanis Canal at Smith and 9th. The shade of green is appealing and stairs offer quite a contrast. That is what attracted me.

Urban Art

I was attracted to this bit of Urban Art on my way to the subway. The original drawing was done by a group of school children and then transferred to this wall by a local artist. I loved the colors and texture of the wall.

Botanical Garden

As you can see I love the Macro lens. There's nothing like being able to get up close and personal with your subject.

This was one of the first photos I took with my camera and the macro lens. It was taken at the Botanical Gardens here in Brooklyn. I love the colors.

Another shot.

A New Endeavor

I have received several requests to see some of my photography so I've decided to add another blog to share some of my images. My camera of choice is a Nikon D40X which I received two years ago as a present from my husband who is also into photography. I am by no means a professional, just a humble beginner but I do enjoy it. My favorite subjects are flowers, animals and landscapes. I also enjoy street photography and capturing the unusual.
